How to prepare for your spray tan appointment. 5 tips to follow.

So you've booked your spray tan appointment and can’t wait for that sun-kissed glow. But before you hit the salon, a little prep work can make all the difference. Follow this spray tan preparation checklist to ensure an even, long-lasting tan. Get ready to achieve a gorgeous, natural-looking tan!

Tip #1: Schedule Accordingly

Your tan will be completely developed and looks its best on day 2. So if you’re getting a spray tan for your wedding or an event, plan ahead and make sure you get in for your appointment two days prior to the big day. It’s also a good idea to do a trial run so you know what to expect. Read my post about when to get a spray tan before your wedding or event for more tips.

Tip #2: Other Appointments FIRST

Complete any other beauty appointments PRIOR to getting your spray tan. This includes things like waxing, manicures and pedicures, lashes, brows, facials, massages, etc. Getting any of these services done while your tan is still developing can result in streaks. So make sure to plan ahead and schedule accordingly.

Tip #3: Exfoliate & Shave

Shower, EXFOLIATE, and shave any unwanted hair at least a few hours before your appointment. Prepping the skin and creating a smooth surface helps with achieving a more even, natural looking tan. This brings us to our next tip.

Tip #4: Arrive with Clean Skin

Resist the urge to apply lotion or after shave serums post shower. You’ll want to arrive with clean, PRODUCT-FREE skin. This mean no deodorant, lotion, perfume, or makeup. A blank canvas means natural, streak-free results.

Tip #5: Loose-Fitting Clothing

Bring or wear loose-fitting clothing to avoid streaks and unwanted seam marks. Socks, bras, and leggings are all frowned upon while your tan is developing.

Remember, your tan is fully developed around day 2 and should look nice and natural for 7-10 days with the proper pre and post-tan care.
